I provide Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) help, advice and support for deaf children and young people, their families, and their schools. My mission is to ensure that every deaf child has the opportunity to access the knowledge and expertise of a Teacher of the Deaf.
At TOD Help, I understand the unique challenges that deaf children and their families face on a daily basis. As an experienced Teacher of the Deaf, I have worked for a number of deaf children ranging from 0-18 and with a variety of hearing needs over the years.
I can help you with understanding your child's diagnosis with a hearing loss.
I can help you to understand more about the equipment your child has been fitted with and how to care and maintain it.
I can advise you around any future changes to equipment and how that may impact on your child, so that you can make an informed decision around this.
I can support you with language development for your deaf child at home through guided programmes and online support.
I can help you to prepare for any appointments you may have regarding your child's hearing loss. Following appointments, I can help you to understand the outcomes and are confident with the next steps or decisions in which you may need to make.
I can help you to make informed decisions for school choices for your child and I can support with the transition to new settings.
I can help nurseries, schools and colleges to build their knowledge and implement strategies to enable deaf children in their settings to reach their full potential.
I can offer observation feedback and advice in order to develop the optimum learning environment to support the needs of a deaf child.
I can provide advice for supporting the language development of deaf children in their setting. I can also provide tailored language programmes and I can support with implementation and delivery of said programmes.
I can offer advice and support around the impact deafness can have on pragmatic skills and strategies that can support deaf children to develop their social, emotional and understanding of communication.
I can offer a range of assessments for listening, literacy and language. In addition, I can report on the outcomes of the individual assessments and offer advice for next steps.
I can provide progression reports for children that I am supporting.
I can provide bespoke language programmes for delivery at home or in educational setting for individual deaf learners.
I can contribute to the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process by providing assessments, reports and advice for strategies to support deaf learners applying for an EHCP. I can also contribute to the Annual Review of an EHCP for deaf learners.
